When is a good time to make the relationship more serious?

If two people around 30 years old are dating and have discussed settling down together and both want the same things in life and are compatible with the big things when is a good time to make things more serious ie. Moving in together engagement etc.

We had dated for like 7 months when we decided to move in together. 
That was almost 10 years ago, still not engaged - but have a house together two kids, two cats, and everything is going the way we wanted it to.

There is no one size fits all answer to this. My opinion is that it depends far more on the QUALITY of time spent together rather than the “official” length of the relationship. If you are spending nearly every day together, have gone on at least one trip together, have had at least one illness together, have never broken up, have had many serious conversations about what you both want your lives to look like (on the same page regarding: kids, spending habits, vacation habit, religion, where you’d like to live, etc.) things like this, then 6 months to a year might be appropriate to start thinking about moving in together and/or getting engaged, whereas a long distance relationship or one where you only see each other once a week and if you haven’t had many serious conversations about the future I think it’s more important to hold off for 1.5-2 years or more before getting more serious/settling down.

Everyone is different but my boyfriend and I were 29 years old when we met and moved in together after 9 months after dating.. we’re going on 3 years together

I think around a year is a safe bet. That being said, If we didn’t start making things happen in a year (give or take a little bit), I would probably start moving on with my life without them.

There’s really no good answer, it depends on you two. My husband and moved together after like two months, he was 27 and I was 21
