My best friend of 10 years confessed he has been in love with me for years.

For context I have a family (we’re in our mid thirties)

When I say best friend this man has, at times been my only friend, he has been there through a divorce in my 20s, heartache, ups and downs. We talk daily and have a very close and open/honest friendship. We joke we’re the same people but opposite sex. There is zero sexual history from us, we have never kissed or crossed any sort of physical boundary. To me he was family.

The issue is since he has said this there has been this sexual tension between us and he even mentioned not to hang out for a bit because he would be likely to lose control and kiss me/pin me up against a wall. The downside to your best friend knowing you too well! He knows exactly how to push buttons.

I have ADHD/ASD and am extremely impulsive! That dopamine hit of the forbidden is like crack to my impulsiveness lol.

I’m actually annoyed I’m in this position now as I can’t imagine doing life without my best friend but now I’m also petrified he will jeopardise my relationship. I do NOT want to cheat, the thought makes me sick.
