Thoughts on greater Idaho

St

So this may just be more relevant to those of us who live, have lived, planned to live in, or have family in the pacific northwest but thought I'd bring it to CC. I have lived in Oregon a good chunk of my life and in different parts of the state. I currently live in the eastern part of the state. Recently the far right Idaho Republicans and some of the right wing eastern Oregonian

have been trying to push for basically everything east of the cascades more or less to become part of Idaho. They claim oregon is more like Idaho and they fit better there as a very simplified claim. While it will never happen as both states governments need to agree amd it would cost the state of Idaho 15+ billion at least they don't have for basically empty land and no cities the small % of population keep trying to keep it relevant. Most of this part of the state is very very very sparsely populated...like less than a person a Sq mile in most of it and if you add up the 11 counties involved are less than 1 large county. Living here has a lot of good and bad but the idea that a small % of the population wants to live in Idaho and instead of move 2 hrs east want the state to reform around them in insane. I know a pot of people we know in Boise and parts of Idaho don't want it either as they would be spending insane amounts of money to take in the poorest part of pregon that requires large chunks if state assistance. So seeing what people here think...does the idea of states moving borders to basically realign with political feelings make sense or is it totally unreasonable. I believe it is totally and unbelievably unreasonable but seeing if other have other views. If you want more in depth info Google "greater idaho" and you can see more info.
