How long did it take your newborn to get back to birthweight ?

So after losing the weight from hospital 7 days later my baby only gained 1oz and is ebf. Now I only have 5 days until I’m at the 2 week mark and I’m getting stressed out bc I never had this issue before. Baby nurses every 2-3 hours has a good latch and plenty of wet diapers. Anyone else going through this? I’ve never had to supplement formula with my other kids ;(

Unless baby isn’t gaining any weight it’s really not necessary to supplement (especially if you want to continue breastfeeding). Regaining birthweight by 2 weeks is a guideline but it really depends on how much they lost in the first place. Also consider that the timing of their weight check can have a big influence on the results. Let’s say one day you weighed them right after a big feed and the next time they’re weighed right after a big poop, that could cause a difference of a few oz and make it seem like baby hasn’t gained enough! 
My first regained birthweight by day 5. She was small to begin with and only lost a little weight. My second was much bigger, lost more in the beginning, and didn’t regain birthweight until 3 weeks. Both are perfectly healthy!

My baby was at his birth weight within a week but the pediatrition said its normal to take a month sometimes. That she doesnt start to worry until its been a month and they havent reached birth weight. How much weight did your baby loose? Were you on antibiotics or had an iv during labor with fluids? Those things can add water weight to baby and make it seem like they lost a lot more weight than you think since they loose the water weight.

Took 5 weeks for our little girl.  Never had to introduce formula, I was able to supplement with my own pumped milk.  Worked with a lactation consultant the whole way through.  I have to say it was a little stressful with her taking this long, but she was happy and content and every other sign told us she was doing great! She is 3.5 months now and has chunky little thighs and cheeks and is doing great!  Some babies just take their time!

My guy lost 7% of his birth weight (he was 7lbs 8oz) and it took just over two weeks to gain it back. At our 2 week visit doc wasn’t thrilled, but wasn’t worried that our guy was a little less than birth weight because he was gaining and we had an appointment already with the lactation consultant and she wasn’t worried about anything. 
I supplemented with formula for a few days because my milk took a while to come in (6days) and my boobs were so sore. Once my milk came in I stopped the formula, so I did it for maybe 3 days. Since my guy lost such a high percentage they were worried about jaundice so that was a driving factor for formula too. 
Baby now weights 12lbs 6oz at 8 weeks !
