Ovulation testing: how do I do it?!

It will be my first time testing for ovulation using strips. We were  able to get pregnant the first time just y tracking my period using this app. We’ve been trying to conceive for 5 months using this same approach with no luck 😣. What are some best practices when testing? Any help is appreciated!

Take a test 2 times a day. One in the morning and one at night. Everyday until you get a positive. You should also use bbt. You check your temp every morning as soon as you wake up before moving out of bed. Start taking the ovulation test maybe 3-5 days after your period ends. Take your temp the first day of your period and keep taking it every morning and logging it into the app until you get a positive pregnancy test

You start testing a couple of days after your period ends between 10 am and 8 pm. You should test at least twice during those times. You are looking for your first positive opk which is when the line is as dark or darker than the control line. Opks don't confirm ovulation though so if you want to confirm you'd need to track bbt. 
It's normal for it to take up to a year to conceive so it may not mean you are doing anything wrong just that it takes time. You only have about a 30% chance each cycle even when you time everything.
