Pros and cons of living near beach?

I currently live in the Midwest and it is very cold here in the winter. All of our friends and family are here and I know I couldn’t ever actually leave them, but moving somewhere warmer near the beach is always in the back of my mind. I’m 28 now and have dreamed of living near a beach since I graduated high school. If you currently live closer to the beach on the southern east coast of the US, do you love it? What are the pros and cons for you? I never truly feel mom guilt over anything, but I do for some reason always feel mom guilt over raising kids in such a cold climate where we spend months cooped up inside.

I grew up about 45 minutes from the beach in Florida and hated it. Not the beach part, but the hot, muggy, bug part. Florida is gross IMO. Now I live 10 minutes from the beach in southern CA and absolutely love it.

I grew up in florida, I live in colorado now. The humidity is enough to make me never go back lol also, it’s hot as hell YEAR ROUND I like having seasons 🥵

We love about 20 mins from Myrtle Beach and I love it, but now it seems like SO many ppl are moving here we’ve actually considered moving farther away just because it’s becoming over populated FAST.

I grew up in SoCal and had the best childhood ever near the beach. Swimming in the ocean and backyard pools are some my favorite memories. I’ve moved north as an adult though because it’s just so darn expensive down there

My parents are about 20 minutes from the beach, it’s windy, salty, muggy though often a little cooler. They love it, we’re about 40 minutes away and the weather is different, it’s not salty, as windy, and a little warmer. Still muggy and gross most of the time though. Plus also bugs, especially in the summer time. I’d say like April-November are quite warm and we stay inside more. Also right now the pollen is so bad I can’t even open my front door without wanting to scratch my eyes out.

Grew up in so cal beaches everywhere. It’s expensive so might want to look into that. But Beaches are fun . Sometimes husband and I would go late at night and get pulled pork sandwiches and watch the waves when nobody was there . At the beach I like to pray as the waves come. The beach in San Diego also has Belmont park attached which is an amusement park with lots of restaurants. Mission beach. Yet there is other beaches to ocean side; imperial beach, and more also there is a lot of outside lakes and parks like lake Dixon . We’re you can go fishing and have bbqs . Lots of parks in so cal .

I live in Jacksonville FL, I'm about a 30 minute drive from the beach. For the city itself I love it, but I hate the politics in Florida. I love living in a city where there's outdoor stuff to do year round, I'm 15 minutes away from about 8 different parks 3 of which have great trails to walk with 2 right on the river, directly behind my house is a nice park, our zoo is a lot of fun, the beach is always nice I love to go at night too and bring my dogs. The weather here is extremely humid and hot 8 months out of the year, 2 super nice months, and 1-2 freezing or cold months, and it doesn't happen consecutively either, so you might have warm weather for a week in December and then 3 weeks of freezing, then back to shorts and tank tops for a week. Hurricanes happen all around us but rarely directly hit. Overall I love living close to the beach, we have thought about moving to the mountains to have a change of scenery, but every opportunity we've had we always back out lol. 
The pros for where I live: outdoor fun year round, close to the beach, very nice fall and spring weather, tons to do all around the city (shopping, restaurants, bars, arcades/ice and skating rinks/bowling alleys and other fun things on every part of town), relatively safe from natural disasters 
Cons: high crime rate, extremely hot summers, conservative politics, shitty school system

I live in Canada but I did live walking distance to a sand beach for a few years. It was very cold in the winter, and windy. Summer was nice because I could go for walks, but there were always so many people , noise, and a lack of parking for guests visiting me. Driving around there was bad. People get careless when going to/at the beach. Spring was cool, lots of fun birds to see during migration.

While I don’t live there my bff has a house in Florida 10-15 min from the Gulf of Mexico. A con are the hurricanes that run through there, but the area is absolutely beautiful.
