Is breast feeding really a natural birth control?

Whenever I end up having a baby🤞I was wondering if it’s true that breast feeding is a natural birth control? I ask this because I’d want my babies close in age and once I’m cleared to BD I’d want to start TTC. But at the same time I want to breast feed if my body lets me. I’d choose baby over TTC

Sometimes you don't get a period back breastfeeding. But I still got my period back at 6 weeks post partum breastfeeding 🤷‍♀️

I got pregnant while breastfeeding my son and even without a period! My son was 18 months old. Crazy but yeah.

For some it is and for others is not. I know plenty of women who got pregnant while breastfeeding. Unfortunately, my body was never capable to get pregnant while producing breast milk. When ttc my youngest, we tried for a year while breastfeeding. No luck. After I stopped breastfeeding, I got pregnant on the 4th cycle 🙂

For some women it is and for others it's not, there's no way to tell which one you'll be. For me, my fertility returned at 4 months postpartum. My period returned at 3 months postpartum but I had an anovulatory cycle that first time (I used fertility awareness method as birth control, now I'm ttc again, so I know when I ovulate). Every cycle for me since that first period I have ovulated. I have breastfed around the clock for 13 months and the only problem I've had is that I ovulate on different days each cycle, one cycle might be 35 days (my normal pre-pregnancy cycle length) and the next might be 70 days.

From how I understand it, breastfeeding regularly can stop ovulation, but if the feeding schedule is inconsistent or lessens feeds the. You can begin ovulating and get pregnant.
