My siblings haven’t care about my kids whatsoever since they were babies. Both siblings were really eager to be aunts at first. Telling me all the things I wanted to do with my kids when they were born. Then they completely lost interest. “Fine,” I thought, “they have their own lives. They’ll bond when the kids are older.”

Boy was I wrong. They’re 5 and 2 now and nothing has changed.

One sibling said she doesn’t want to visit (she lives a few states away) because she doesn’t want to waste her vacation having to be around her niece. (The vacation was staying at my grandmas house for Christmas where her niece was also spending Christmas)

The other one straight up hung up on my son when he FaceTimed her, she was in her livingroom. She never texted her anything to say she was busy. My kids aren’t even badly behaved, when they’re around the aunts they just want to play with them. I’ve stop sending occasional pictures in group messages because they never respond or just respond by sending a picture of their dog/cat. Both ants are members of childfree social groups. My kids adore their aunts and I have no idea how to tell them their aunts don’t give one fuck about them.

My daughters birthday is in a few weeks and she wants her aunt there. However, I already know she’s not coming.

I’m still an active Instagram user, I seem to be the only one with this problem.

My step mom thinks they are just jealous of the amount of time, attention (monetary attention) my parents give my kids despite living far away. But my husband has no siblings, both of his parents died years before my kids were born. Mine is literally their only family my kids have.

Has anybody else experienced this? How do I shield my kids from this?
