Would you tell your husband he needs to lose weight?
So my husband and I have been married for only 2 years and together for 4. Since we’ve been married, he has slowly put on some weight. It plateaued for a while but he said he’s gaining weight again. In total, he’s gained almost 70 lbs since we have been married. He is a Marine vet and has back and joint issues from being involved in combat overseas on deployment and is on a basic anti-inflammatory everyday.
He’s 6’1” and 285lbs now. He has made several comments to me about how if I “just told him he’s fat” he’d find the motivation to go to the gym and eat better. But I can’t bring myself to do that.
I’m mainly concerned about his overall health and how this much weight gain has impacted his chronic pain and joint issues. I’ve mentioned to him that I’m going to start eating better and I’ve bought food for the house that’s healthier and ditched most of our unhealthy snacks. But he’s a grown man and he just comes home with his own food now.
Would you tell your husband he needs to lose weight? How would you approach it?
