Reflux Babies? Anti-Reflux Formula? How did you wean them off reflux medications?

Hello i have a 9 week old that is formula fed and has silent reflux. He was refusing to feed and just overall uncomfortable, screaming, and crying every time we feed him and after.

Doctor tried to put him on HA formula Nutramigen, he didn’t want to feed even more and projectile vomited every time.

He’s been on Pepcid/Famotidine for almost 2 weeks now, definitely helped him and became a totally different baby once his reflux was managed.

We’re currently on ready to feed similac sensitive and he seems like doing okay on it but we were always having problems with him not feeding enough and not gaining weight. Doctor recommended adding rice cereal to his formula if he still doesn’t gain proper weight.

I was wondering if I could just wean him off pepcid and try introducing hipp anti reflux formula hoping we won’t need him to be medicated and he would feed more.

I already asked his doctor but I just wanted to know if anyone’s babies are on reflux medication and anti reflux formula at the same time? I read that the recommendation from the formula makers is to not have baby on reflux medication and reflux formula as it can cause constipation.

He mostly has silent reflux and occasional spit up.

I’m afraid that I may be weaning him off too early and he would refuse to feed more if his reflux comes back but I know he needs to be off medication at 8 weeks.

Any experience with this? And this specific formula?
