Motherly advice needed

Hello all, I need advice on how to ask my mother if I can start birth control so I don’t end up pregnant in high school like my own mother. I am a 16 year old girl with an 18 year old boyfriend we were both raised catholic but I must say not very well. My parents are very aware of who he is and allow him to spend the night when the weather is bad because they trust us. in fact our parents set us up together and we have been lifelong friends. I am looking for a way to avoid pregnancy until after college, and I do not know how to address this with my mother. That woman is afraid of every pill on earth, thinking that I could get addicted to it or overdose, or who knows what. If any moms out there could offer their insight on how I could address this without flat out saying “I’m having sex, fuck the church,” that would be great.
