Social worker for people with disabilities. Have to lead meetings with families, write plans/reports, and authorize services. Caseload of about 40 people. Would you like this job?

Difficult question to answer when you haven't actually done the job. Social work is hard and stressful but I can imagine it's rewarding

My best friend does this and absolutely loves the job! There are times when it can be emotionally difficult, but overall she enjoys it.

I had this job. I worked there for about 3 years before moving into a management role, lasted 2 more years before I was so burnt out that I left social work altogether and have not worked in that field in any official capacity since. This was because of the agency I was with, lack of support, lack of work life balance, unreachable expectations of work possible within work hours, and the stress of liability for individuals  i worked with/risk of investigation if I messed anything up. It can be a very rewarding job and is so vital for individuals obtaining services. But it’s incredibly difficult

That’s a very hard job.. i am a DSP and a independent provider and i see what the social workers have to deal with.. it’s hard but can be very rewarding.. 40 people is a lot to deal with.. you also have to deal with their families as well.. it’s too much work for me but from what i see the social workers that I’ve come across seem to like their jobs
