How does getting a ring for your man work??

Question

So marriage has been talked about with me and my boyfriend and we are traditional in the sense that he will be proposing to me (not the other way around). I think it’s only the woman who has an engagement ring… right? Of course when he first proposes that’s the only ring. But am I supposed to get him one after?
Oh lord I am way too old to be asking these questions…
 
I’ve never asked/been told before. The man’s ring is a wedding band and he doesn’t have a ring before getting actually married, right? And if that’s the case, do I pick out and buy his ring myself? I know that obviously we can do whatever we want and don’t have to go with tradition, but I just want to know what people usually do

Usually the man gets a ring at the wedding, but I know some people do want their man to wear a ring during the engagement period too. But for us, I was the only one with an engagement ring, which he chose by himself, and we chose our wedding bands together and paid for them from a joint account we had set up for wedding cost.

We talked marriage before. He bought my ring, and surprise proposed. I knew it was coming just not when. As part of wedding planning we went and ring shopped together and then I went back and picked his ring and had it engraved. Traditionally at the wedding you’ll exchange rings during the ceremony, you’ll wear your engagement ring until the wedding and then he gives you your wedding band and you’ll give him his ring which is what we did. But you don’t have to do anything traditional if you’d rather not. 
My brother is engaged and he wears his ring every day.

Haha depends… he bought my ring and I bought him one and I let him wear it before he even proposed to me to he can get the feel of it. He’s a finish carpenter and doesn’t wear rings, so it was new to him. He finally proposed 2 weeks later and after that he would wear it going on, around family and friends, and when were chillen at home. I encouraged it because I told him we are engaged to one another. We’ve been together going on 2 decades now, so I love he wanted to wear his ring before marriage. It’s as if I bought him an engagement ring and it was mutual. His friend who got engaged after about a year and half with his girlfriend didn’t get to see his ring until 2 weeks ago. He is getting married on June 11th and his fiancé will not let him wear the ring at all. She says no… so I say it depends. We were together so long I wanted him to wear the ring and that was my choice!

We picked out his ring together and i paid. Traditionally, he shouldnt wear it until the ceremony. But my fiance is wearing his ring already because he wanted to be able to show his commitment too
