Irregular bleeding

My periods have always been bad. I’m not on any birth control and being single I’m going months in between sex. I’ve been having irregular bleeding and irregular cycles for awhile now. I’ll start, go a full week. Stop for a week or so two and then start bleeding again for a 2-4 days then start my cycle a week after that. It seems like I’m always bleeding and bleed more than not throughout the month. Female problems run in my family. My mom had a full hysterectomy at 36 (my age right now) because she had cysts on her ovaries. I know I need to make an appointment and now that my insurance just kicked in I will be doing that as soon as possible. I just wonder if anyone has this issue and if so what’s the cause of? My daughter started a couple ago and then I start mine today a week early and I was just bleeding las week for a couple days. It’s getting really inconvenient and aggravating on top of causing me worry and stress. Any ideas??
