Intellectual disability. Advice ?

I was told my 13 year old has an intellectual disability (not sure exactly what) by his school/teacher.. not sure what I’m looking for, maybe advice ? Where to go from here. Idk I’m a little lost on what to do with the information.. he is in a special Ed class & has an IEP.

His school/teacher? Can you explain that more? The teacher can't diagnose or proclaim any disabilities.. did your kid see a school social worker, psychiatrist or undergo any assessments?

If your son is already receiving services through the school, then there’s not much else you can do. You’ve already done everything, so I’m not sure why the teacher felt the need to say that. Was she suggesting it so it can be added to his IEP? Either way, the teacher isn’t able to make a diagnosis, only a suggestion. If you’re concerned, make an appointment with your son’s pediatrician, and get their opinion. They will probably refer you to a developmental specialist.
