When can I let baby sleep through the night?

What age can I let baby sleep through the night? My 2 week old still wakes up a few times of course but he’s a pretty good sleeper so I was wondering that if he did sleep through the night one night would that be okay? Or should I wake him after 4 hours if he hasn’t woken me?

From what my pediatrician told me is during the newborn phase all the way to 2-3 months they’re not allowed to oversleep and skip feedings at night time. She suggested to wake him up every 2-3 hrs max is 4hr mark to feed him, keep him hydrated, check up on him to reduce the risks of SIDS. After the 3 month mark or so then they can sleep a little longer till they wake up on themselves to let you know they’re hungry. But I will still have my routinely hours to check up on him just because he’s my first newborn, he’s 5wks. ☺️

I good rule to follow to avoid dehydration and low blood sugar is to not let babe sleep more than 1hr than week old.
So a 2 week old can do a 3 hour stretch. 3 week old can do a 4hr stretch. 4 week old can do a 5hr stretch.
Personally, I don’t let my kids exceed 4hr until over 6 weeks old.

Around 6-7 weeks my daughter was sleeping about 7-8 hours at night. My pediatrician said it was totally fine as long as she was getting the amount of milk needed for the day.
