When you start breastfeeding, is it normal for a lymph node in your armpit to form rock hard and painful? I’m only day four of breastfeeding now and yesterday I woke up to my breasts engorged and painful and a lump in my armpit that is the same as well. I can’t get either of them to soften up and not be as painful as they are now. Is this normal? Is there something I can do or will it just go away on its own?

This happened to me. When my milk came in (4 days postpartum), my breasts were absolute rocks, and I had several lymph nodes in the surrounding areas also swollen/painful. They’ll start regulating a bit and the firmness will go down.

I've never had thag happen to me unless I had mastitis. It's normal for your breasts to be hard and sore when milk comes in as your supply regulates. So it's important to feed baby on demand or no more than every 3 hours. You want baby to try and drain the breast as well as milk removal is important. However, they shouldn't be red. A clogged duct can very quickly turn into mastitis. If you can, I'd call your doctor or see a lactation consultant

I get it every pregnancy until my milk really begins to come in. I take Motrin, stay hydrated, supplement with sunflower lecithin to help remove the clogs and stay away from the breast pump, as that makes it worse for me. Using a Haaka and massage the lumps with it on helps to release.
