Gestational diabetes

Yasmin

I’m having trouble controlling my gestational diabetes. I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I found out at around 30 weeks that I had GD. At first we tried to control my numbers with just diet alone but it wasn’t working so they had me on 12 units of long acting insulin at night and 10 units of short acting for breakfast and dinner. My numbers for fasting were still high like 130-140 in the morning even though I took the insulin and they increased my long acting to 15 units and the numbers are a little better but not where they should be. Now they are around 110-120 in the morning. For breakfast and dinner regardless of me taking the insulin my numbers have been crazy high this past week like in the 200 range. This seems extremely high and I’m scared how this is affecting my baby. What did you do to keep your numbers within range. At first I was eating virtually no carbs but then after meeting with the nutritionist she told me I had to eat carbs and my numbers got worse after that.
