Hey there, lovely ladies! I have a toddler at home, and I'm not sure how to explain the idea of a new baby to him in a way that he can understand. Any tips or suggestions on age-appropriate language, visual aids, or activities that can help toddlers grasp the concept of a new baby? Let's share our wisdom and help each other out!

We have been taking our 3 year old to private ultrasound appointments, letting him listen to the heartbeat on the doppler, feel baby brother kick, help get toys and the nursery set up, and pointing out babies we see in public. At one point we even got him a baby doll to tell him how to hold the baby and how to be gentle. He is starting to get really excited and talks about it all the time now.

I’ve been taking my toddler (2 years 8 months) with me every time I go shopping for the new baby.  She’s very aware I have Bowie (baby’s name) in my belly and will kiss and snuggle up and say I love Bowie.  I let her help pick out clothes, and show her photos of babies and tell her Bowie is a baby, he just needs to grow.  Or when Santa comes you and Bowie get presents.  Bowie will be at your birthday party this year, etc.  I’ve just been incorporating him into our everyday lives.
