What are your top tips for successful breastfeeding?

Hi lovely ladies! As a new mom, I'm excited to breastfeed my little one but also feeling a bit nervous. I'd love to hear from experienced moms about their top tips for successful breastfeeding. What worked for you? Any advice you can share would be greatly appreciated!

The thing that people don’t tell you is that the infant is born knowing how to suck but not how to nurse. So it’s a learning process for both of you. 
Tip #1 - make sure you are comfortable and don’t be afraid to ask one’s to hand you things if needed. Don’t be afraid to try different positions till you find one you like. 
Tip # 2 - just shove the whole nipple in their mouth! Their latch is everything!! 
I know it sounds silly but I know so many moms who just let them “nibble” on the nipple and they get so sore!! It takes time to develop a good latch. It takes practice, but take the time to do it! Some babies latch well from the start and some need more guidance. 
Tip # 3 - with your first child, your milk will take longer to come in. So your baby will lose some weight but don’t let that scare you. Keep nursing and usually on the fourth or fifth day your milk will come in￼. You’ll know when it happens because your breasts get really heavy. ￼With your second or third kid, your milk will come in much sooner, like the second day or the third day. So even if your first baby did not nurse well, still try to nurse your second baby because it can be a lot easier. ￼
Tip # 4- Breast-feeding is incredibly hard!!!
It is also incredibly time consuming. It can be very emotionally draining for the mom and it’s OK when you feel like that. ￼ It’s not all rainbows and butterflies. It can be challenging but it’s also beautiful. When you take the time to make it work. You can also do everything right and the baby still doesn’t nurse well. So don’t beat yourself up. 
Tip #5 - use organic hydrosol to cleanse the breast area and soothe your baby. They are so gentle they are safe for babies and really help to relax and calm them. You don’t have to be afraid to get some on your nipples. I swear by the stuff. You can do your own research but hydrosols are great!! There are many companies online that sell it. I also pour some into their bath.

-Keep water handy. You’ll be thirsty. 
-When you can, breastfeed laying on your side. You might dose off and sneak a nap in. It’s amazing. 
-Cluster feeding is hard, but it doesn’t last forever. 
-Pump so your husband can feed the baby and give you a break… I mean bond. 
-I neglected feeding on one side for a day and developed a low supply on that side and an over supply on the other. My husband called my over-achieving boob the Hindenboob because it would grow SO much larger than the other. So, keep feeding as even as you can lol 
-You might feel a stinging pain time to time as your milk “lets down”. It’s quite the sensation. 
-Your boobs will control your life for a bit. You’ll leave parties or outings because they it’s time to go. I actually miss that in hindsight. 
-Again, Keep water handy. 
And.. Sometimes it doesn’t work out for various reasons and that’s ok. Don’t stress it. I’ve had friends that tried so hard to breastfeed but either their supply was low, the baby wouldn’t latch, or they developed mastitis… in the end it was fine, they all have perfectly healthy children. Women beat themselves up over breastfeeding, but it’ll all be alright.
