Cost of nipt? Worth it?

Question

For anyone who opted to do the nipt test without insurance coverage, how much did it cost? Is it worth it? My insurance only covers it if you're over 35 which im not so ill have to pay out of pocket. I plan to talk to my dr if she recommends it for me and get a price estimate, but curious your experiences in the mean time.

Talk with your OB. If you’re in the US, most of the companies offer patient prices if insurance doesn’t cover. It wasn’t covered with my first two and the cost was $150 each if I did a survey (I actually never received a bill for either of them 🤷🏻‍♀️). I’ll be 35 at the birth for this baby, so it was covered by insurance.

With insurance for me over $600, estimated over $1000 without. I was told at my doctors that the labs (they used labcorp) offer programs you can apply for to have it discounted. Currently waiting to see if I got approved. 
I waited until I was 17 weeks with this pregnancy because my first pregnancy i got it early and then miscarried. He said it was not mandatory. But personally I wanted to know if baby had downs or something to get the support I would need. So that’s why I opted for it. You can get it without the gender if you want that to be a surprise too.

£550 in the UK. I felt like it was worth it as it was my first and it put my mind to rest but I won’t be doing it when I get pregnant with my second I can’t justify the cost then when I get other testing free on the NHS.
