Can babies wear diapers in the water?

So I know this might be a dumb question but I have no idea. I got my son a pool and was wondering if he can go in there with his diaper and what does he want a shorts bathing suit? Please help ftm

You need swim diapers. They only catch poop. Pee goes right through. 
He can play in it in just a swim diaper or you can put a swimsuit over it if you wish. We do sunsuits that are long sleeved to use less sunscreen and keep babe protected. 
A regular diaper will just absorb a bunch of water and turn into a thick heavy useless mess that’s very uncomfortable for babe.

Swim diapers. If it's just an outdoor pool (easy to clean) I just let mine in just naked. He's only 1. And never poops in the water (I say that but watch he will poop next time now hahahaha) but seriously he's a picky pooper. Very picky on where he likes to poop lmao. And he goes naked in the lakes and rivers

I just want to state that while you can use a regular diaper it will be huge and uncomfortable but it is also more likely to sink and pull your baby down with it. Swim diapers let the water pass through and will not absorb like a regular diaper making them much safer while in a pool :)

He needs a swim nappy, something like this the sizes might be different from the usual nappy you use so double check what he needs.
