34 weeks 3 days and 7lbs 3 oz
I am super bummed out. We had a growth scan yesterday and our little girl measured at 37 weeks 3 days and 7lbs 3oz. Making her a macrosomia baby in the larger than 99%. This was a new OB for me and I haven’t ever seen her before as my typical doc was unavailable. She walked into the room and immediately stated that I need to have a C Section because of the size of baby plus she is currently transverse. She states I need to schedule a C Section because at this rate she will be over 10 pounds at 39 weeks and I can’t deliver a transverse baby. She also states that shoulder dystocia is also a risk and that’s a good reason to do a section. I feel utterly devastated. Last week she was breech and the week before she was head down. She’s just been rolling all over all day long. And last week my fundal height was 37 and my OB was happy with it.
For context this is baby #2. I am a fat mom, plus size ect. My first was an induction at 39 weeks for idiopathic polyhydramnios. And my total labor was 12 hours and 20 min of pushing. Like really easy labor and delivery. She was 7lbs 5oz at birth. I have gained 18 pounds this entire pregnancy compared to almost 40 pounds with my first and thought I was doing so well this time around. I passed the one hour glucose test at 28 weeks and suggested to the OB at the time we could test again at 32 weeks just because of my weight and with my first they did it. My OB declined stating it was not needed. I just feel like I don’t understand how she’s so big or got so big. I am not against a c section and will always put my baby first but I just feel so defeated.
