Has anyone had this issue? I moved from New York to Louisiana a few months ago for my fiancés job. I didn’t think I would have so much difficulty finding a job down here. I have good references and past experience. As soon as they hear my accent the interview is over or they suddenly filled the spot. If I put that my past jobs were in New York, I won’t even get an interview. I’ve even applied to places that you need zero experience for and they use the excuse that I don’t have the qualifications. And I’ve applied to over 100 jobs. It all ends this way. After I learned not to put where I came from, it still doesn’t help because I can’t change the way I talk.
