Rant: Don’t make this mistake at work

I worked at the same consulting for a decade. The second time I went on maternity leave they said they couldn’t accommodate my request for part time only. I was two months post partum and exhausted, and didn’t bother saving any of my work from my work laptop before turning it in.

A handful of months later, a company reached out to me with a part time role, and while I have a solid resume, they asked for a portfolio of my work, which I DO NOT have. I did save content on my work laptop, but that’s it. I feel so dumb. So save your work! Keep your portfolio going throughout your career and make sure it’s on your personal computer.
