What works better, and actual little potty or the seat that goes over the big toilet seat??  My toddler is almost ready to start trying!

It is a lot easier for me to start off in the little potty because I have it in the living with him naked, he’s able to watch tv and play. In the restroom they won’t last sitting as long.

My son is 2 and uses both. Big potty with or without the insert upstairs and small potty downstairs (there’s no bathroom down there). Has no issues with public washrooms or urinals either which is nice. He prefers his small potty but will use others.

I just have a stool. I taught my kids to balance on the regular potty and with a regular seat. My 3 year old is tall enough to not need a stool anymore, and my 2 year old is mostly potty trained but still uses the stool until he gets taller. They dont freak out at using other pottys wherever we go, which is a blessing

We have a toilet set, that has a small seat attached. We used this with our youngest and she loved it! And then when she was ready and big enough, we just unhooked the small seat. It’s magnetic and clips to the top for when you don’t need it. I think we got ours at a hardware store, maybe Amazon? I forget.

Depends on the child. My daughter refused to stool and would only use a potty. But I know many who skipped the potty

For my first we just used a seat reducer on the regular toilet. Never did a little potty. It’s personal preference and whatever works for your kid.

I have short kids so I start out with the little potty and mix in using the regular toilet sometimes so they aren’t scared to use one in public. Ive never used one of the little add-on seats, by the time they are tall enough to use the big toilet alone it hasn’t seemed necessary, and the kind with the steps is just too bulky for our little bathroom. It’s really personal preference, whatever you find works best for your child, there is no right or wrong way to do it.

I would not do little potty only. That can lead to fear and confusion to big toilets.
