Is a diaper genie worth it or unnecessary?

Answer

Using a diaper pail is worth it in my opinion, but it doesn’t need to be a diaper genie brand. We have our Ubbi pail in the nursery upstairs and it definitely keeps the smell locked up.

NO they do not work once baby gets passed 3 months or if you formula feed. The only Diaper pail that’s ever worked for us is the UBBI diaper pail. It’s only the pricey side but the bags lasted us almost a year with twins and the smell was nonexistent.

Im contemplating buying a diaper pail too, because we sleep on the second floor and I want to have a seperate bin for smelly diapers. But I think Im just going to buy a regular garbage bin so I can use garbage bags instead of the special diaper pail bags. Did the same thing last pregnancy. I just kept a bin in the garage by the mudroom door, and it worked well.

We LOVE our diaper pail (Munchkin). So much so that we bought a second pail for a different floor of our home. The biggest downside is that when diapers get bigger, it fills up pretty quickly and the bags can be expensive.

We like ours but it's not a necessity. We had the diaper genie with our daughter and we have an Ubbi pail with our son. They are the same thing. Most people complain about the smell but I don't have that issue. If you change the bag immediately after a poppy diaper, and spray or clean the inside of the pail regularly it keeps the entire pail from smelling. I do this about once a week unless he's had a lot of poopy diapers.

Depends on you, your home and trash.
We live on second floor with no lift, and our kitchen and front room are open. 
For me I didn’t want the risk of the odour throughout the rooms, especially the kitchen where you prefer food and didn’t want to have to go up and down stairs frequently. 
We can get a weeks worth of dirty diapers, if not longer in our nappy bin and have absolutely no smell and is just next to changing table in nursery. so to me totally worth it.

We have one. We didn’t use it at first because we wanted to use a regular trash, but between pee and poop there were a lot of diapers that began to stink very quickly if we didn’t take the trash out every day. We use the diaper genie and it’s great! Smells stay inside and we don’t have to change it daily!
