I am currently 15w3d. My OB called yesterday and said I am a CARRIER of Cystic Fibrosis, but I don’t have it.  My husband needs to get tested for it to see if it will affect the baby. Has anyone else had/have this as well?? I do not know much about it and it’s making me nervous! 😩

Even if your husband is a carrier of CF there is still roughly only a 1 in 4 chance the baby will have it. So try not to stress. He probably isn’t a carrier and even if he is you still have 3/4 chances that the baby won’t have it

I tested as well as a carrier my husband tested negative as long as he is not also a carrier baby should be fine :)

Mine came back that I am a carrier of SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). At first I panicked especially after reading about it but I have 2 other kids by the same partner (my husband) and I told myself I am NOT going to stress!!!!! He will get tested and we will take it from there. With God on our side and Faith in our hearts .. We get this!! 🙏🏽❤️

I'm a carrier of PKD (polycystic kidney disease) from s/o mom swears up and down there is no way he can be a carrier of it. So he has yet to get tested for it.

I’m a carrier of SLOS and one other I can’t remember the name of. My husband was tested for both of them and is NOT a carrier which means we will never have a child that HAS that condition, only carriers of it. If your husband is also a carrier then your baby has a 25% chance of being a carrier, a 25% chance of not being a carrier and a 50% chance of having the disease/syndrome itself. That is how the geneticist explained it to us. Good luck

I also am a carrier for cystic fibrosis. My husband and I went and saw a geneticist. My husband is NOT a carrier and we were told that our kids had a less than 1% chance of having cystic fibrosis. But if your spouse is a carrier as well as yourself, it’s 25% chance. I totally understand your worry, I felt it myself.
