Adhd and autistic hitting at school
** I called and told them. He can’t get in to be seen by his doctor until October 19th.
My son started preschool this year. He will be 5 in a few weeks. I’ve been having issues with him hitting. His teachers say he doesn’t even seem like he realizes he is doing it. A little girl who is in his class, gets on the same bus as him. Yesterday as they got off the bus, the little girl asked him why’d he hit her. I made him apologize and asked why he hit her. He said he didn’t know. This morning she didn’t get on the bus, and she didn’t get off the bus. I assumed she was sick. I asked him if he saw her at school today, and he said yeah, she rode another bus because she wanted him to leave her alone. This broke my heart.
But he is autistic and has trouble telling me exactly what happens sometimes. He sometimes gets pretend and reality mixed up. So I also asked if she was a car rider. He also said yes.
So, I’m worried. I’ve been wanting to homeschool him. But sent him to school to learn social skills. I feel like he’s getting worse behavior wise. He sees a therapist. He was on medication (clonidine) and I noticed he has been more impulsive over the last month since taking it, so I didn’t give it to him today. He seems better today, but due to yesterday, idk. I just don’t know what to do. I’ve showed him videos, explained why we don’t hit, ask him questions to make sure he understands, but he is not applying what he learns. I’m holding back tears because I don’t know what to do and he is struggling.
He sees his therapist tomorrow. And I’m about to call his psychiatrist.
