Is it possible to outgrow eczema?

My son used to have really bad eczema. It would get to the point he would make himself bleed from itching. His doctor gave us a prescription for a steroid cream, which I’ve only had to use a handful of times. He’ll be 3 on October 20th and hasn’t had a flare up for a while now. Is it possible to outgrow eczema?

My son outgrew it! He had severe eczema for probably the first 2-3 years and then it got better and better and now he is about to be 7 and nothing!

Yes I had such severe eczema as a toddler people used to ask if I was burned. Now as an adult I only get a little on my knuckles. If it’s allergy induced eczema  it’s good to get that under control or get allergy tested

Whats the name of the cream your doc gave you? My son is the same right now he.scratches till bleedings and the cream my doc.gave him doesnt seem to make a difference

I had the trifecta of eczema, asthma, and allergies and outgrew only the eczema 😂

Yes. I had it when I was a baby & never had it again. My SO was the same way. Our babies have eczema (age 1.5 & 5 months) & I always just assumed they would outgrow it. I think it was mild cases for all of us, never had to use prescription creams, but a lot of children outgrow it! Skin is sensitive when you are younger. I used to be allergic to certain lotions/metals as a child & they no longer effect me as well. I think my skin just got less sensitive over time. ￼

Our pediatrician said it is. My oldest struggles with eczema and has since he was newborn. It was really bad when he was younger, but now he doesn't get very many flare ups at all. So idk if he's outgrowing it, or if we just know how to prevent it more now so he doesn't have many triggers. Idk. Over the summer he flared up again really bad because he was rolling around in the grass at the park. But since that he's been fine and hasn't had another.
