Nicknames for the third generation…

We decided to go traditional if it was a boy…it’s a boy! But we really thought it was a girl so now we are really thinking about our decisions for a little boy…

We have 4 generations of Robert (this would be the 3rd with the full name) and 3 generations of Robert on mine…baby’s due date is 5 days shy of my husbands birthday…that’s alot of Roberts in one room 😅

I don’t like any nicknames for Robert and they’ve almost all been used in the family: Rob, Robby, Bob, Bobby, Bert

And I don’t like the names I’m seeing for the third: trey, trip, trace, tri, trio, chip

There’s one name I might like: Kenzo which is 3 in Japanese origin and I’m part Japanese. But it’s still not my favorite. It kind of feels like settling.

I really like unique names, our girl name was going to be Sky. My name is also unique. So I feel so conflicted. I want to honor the tradition but at the same time, that’s a lot of Roberts…and I’ve read that children that are now adults have difficulty with nicknames and legal documents not really representing them, who they are. I would never call this baby Robert…I call my husband that.

Any advice or nicknames to contribute? I’m at a loss right now 🫠
