Oily hair?
“My hair is so oily I have to wash every day.”
If you’ve ever said this, listen up!
Tips from a former oily girl to help you find balance.
1. Stop washing daily. Period and no ‘yeah but’s’! Balancing your scalp means you need to take control of what you do to balance your scalp—starting with not washing daily which strips the natural oils off your scalp telling your body to produce more which leads to…oil! Ever think your oily girl problems aren’t genetics but instead poor habits? I think you may be right🙋🏼♀️😱
2. Make sure to clean your hair brush frequently. When you brush with a dirty brush you are putting oils, buildup and impurities back into clean hair making it dirty quicker.
3. Weekly scalp scrub and oil treatments. These two are imperative! First we rid our scalp of environmental buildup and deep cleanse, then we balance our scalp with oil treatments that help provide the right ph level for optimal results.
4. Use a shampoo brush in the shower. Not only does it help with blood circulation to stimulate the scalp for healthy growth, it also helps you deep cleanse your scalp and get all of the shampoo distributed and rinsed correctly to eliminate that “heavy” feeling.
5. Always double cleanse! The first shampoo helps to remove buildup and impurities while the second cleanse helps to really deep cleanse the hair and scalp where the oil forms at the root.
6. Never condition your scalp! Rule of thumb, shampoo should stay above your ears and conditioner should be used below them. This can be true of some aftershower products as well. Know which products go where or ask your hair consultant for help!
7. Use a talc free dry shampoo to help soak up the oils while they are being created. Pro tip, use before your hair is dirty to maximize results and spray 8-10 inches away from your hair.
These are 7 tips I’ve introduced to my hair routine to help me go from washing daily to washing every 3-4 days instead. My hair is so much healthier because of it!
