Benzonatate while extended BF

So I went to a doctor for chronic cough and she prescribed me Benzonatate 200 mg. I took 1 dose and after a while I got a call from her that it’s not safe for breastfeeding and changed the medication 😡 I ve been nursing my 21 month old for comfort and sleep reasons, 2X a day and had to stop nursing the night I took the medication. Anyone had a similar experience with either benzonatate or other “non-safe-for-breastfeeding” drugs while nursing a toddler? What did you decide to do?
