Breastfeeding Question- One Or Both Sides?

So my son is 3.5 months old and exclusively breastfed. Until recently, I’ve always fed him about 5 minutes on each side at each session. In the last week, he has not been wanting the second breast at all, ending the feed when I try to switch him. Is it okay to only nurse on one breast at each session? Will my supply drop if I’m not emptying both breasts and instead only emptying one every 2-4 hours?

You’re fine, just make sure to alternate breasts every feed

Have a hakkaa on the other boob. My kiddo started out one boob at 5min, fast nurser! I would alternate boobs to keep both going. It was after about 4m the kiddo decided they wanted more and started doing 10min feeds and so I started up 5min on each side. But by then the spacing of the feeds worked out a bit? So didn't do any less total time nursing just kiddo shifted how much and when. I was glad I was using the hakaa on the other side tho to keep up. I struggled with the pump with baby #1 due to over supply so the hakaa was a safer bet for me.

It shouldn’t affect your supply. To keep my supply up I just pump after each feeding (when I’m home) and collect the remaining milk.
