Toddlers playing with toy g🔫ns

We have a son who’s about to be 3 and everything is a g🔫n and he’s obsessed with shooting people and it’s so uncomfortable. He’s a little guy and has no idea what he’s doing or talking about. My husband and I both own many and my husband hunts so it’s not like we are against it. I went to the library with him a few weeks ago and he held up a block to a baby’s head and started pretending to shoot him saying that he’s going to kyll him🫤. We ended up taking them all and he still does it. We tried saying “only targets not people” “only feet”. Nothing works. We’re going to wait until he’s able to listen and respect that it’s a weapon we think? It’ll also be hard because of birthday parties with squirt g🔫ns. I’m interested to hear what other parents do!
