Phantom smells ??

Question

Has anyone dealt with smelling things that aren’t real? I’m a little over 9 weeks and for the last week or two I’ve smelled this absolutely horrible smell in one certain area in my home. I’ve gotten the house deep cleaned, exterminators to examine, and even had other people smell the area. Apparently there’s no scent to anyone but me 🥲 what can I do? It’s driving me absolutely insane.

Never had a phantom smell but I know our sense of smell gets very strong as pregnant women. But since u had a lot of stuff done to check it out, it prob is just a phantom smell. Maybe get a candle or air freshener for that area!

Yup. With my first pregnancy I smelled car exhaust ALL THE TIME at random. I’d be walking through my house and smell it so distinctly it was as if I was standing behind a running car. I’d even look outside and make sure my car wasn’t on because it was so strong. It lasted from about 5 to 14 weeks and then stopped as quickly as it started.

I’ve had a lot of phantom smells while pregnant, and so did my mom when she was. Although this sounds more like it may be due to a heightened sense of smell that a lot of women get during pregnancy. You may be picking up on a smell that’s so faint to others that they don’t even notice it, but to you it’s overwhelming. I’ve had this a lot as well, one time I had to stand probably 70 yards away from a port-a-potty so that I wouldn’t smell it, when no one else could pick up on it from closer.
