What age should a child sleep on their own?

What age should a kid have their own room?

I live with my boyfriend in a separated apartment below his grandmas house. His two grandma live upstairs and a kid. The kid is 6 and he doesn’t have his own room or his own bed, he has one box full of toys which seem to have come all from his last Christmas. That box is upstairs and whenever he pulls out stuff to play the grandmas yell at him for “making a mess”. There’s three rooms upstairs. One empty room made for guest, which they barely have. The other room that was small used to be the kids but the second grandma sleeps there, and the other one is the main grandmas room.

I just think it’s kinda weird they leave the empty room which was my boyfriends empty and full of junk with two twin beds. I feel like a kid needs their own space to play without being yelled at for being to loud or they are “making a mess” for pulling out one toy.

I’m just curious bc I was Christmas shopping with the kid and he saw a bed and said he wanted one but he’ll never get one, and it made me feel really bad. They have two perfectly new twin bed…. I wouldn’t mind offering to clean the room out for him (it’s not even that bad just used as storage for random stuff). I just don’t want it to come off as offensive to anyone.
