Kids preference ?

My husband was playing with our friends kids and  he said to me ‘we only gonna have one because I will have preference/a favorite one’ 
For my parents our there is it normal to prefer one child than the other ? Or love one more than the other ?

In my opinion, I don't necessarily have a favorite child or love one more than the other. But I like different things about my kids and my bonds with them are different. As much as one wants to believe they their treat their kids the same it's not totally possible in every aspect because they are their own person with different needs. My youngest is the total opposite of my oldest in almost every way. I like different things about that. It's also a normal feeling to think you'll have a preferable and love one child more than the other but really the capacity to love increases even if it's loving differently. When I found out I was pregnant again I had these same thoughts but the love is equal. I believe only bad parents would actually prefer one child over the other but I don't think it's common among parents, in general

My MIL always favorites her oldest and youngest sons over my husband yet when she needed help the only one that stepped up was him. The other two were nowhere to be seen. But then again I don’t think she’s the best example for a mother 😅

That was always my biggest fear with having more than one child, I would look at my son and couldn’t fathom how I could ever love someone else as much as I love him. Your heart is bigger than you think and it has no trouble making room for the next little one. There are days I enjoy being around one more than the other depending on behavior and how they’re doing that day, but my love for them is too big to even be measured. I just know I’d do anything for them and they’re my whole world.

Let’s just be honest everyone has a favorite kid, you tell everybody you love them both the same, but there’s always one that you have an easier time with or a better connection with or get along better with. ￼
