Pre-menopausal symptoms?

Can you tell through your periods if you are  having pre menopausal symptoms? 
I have never had very heavy periods, but last few months I occasionally got a day or two of heavier than usual periods. Other times I would bleed but not fill a pad. But I kinda have always been like that. And last month I got a very light period for about 3 days. This month I am cramping a lot more and bleeding more but not heavy. 
Could this be a symptom of pre menopause as I just turned 43 and have never been pregnant? Or could it be something else?

I’m 45. I just dealt with this mess myself. They put me on progesterone for 2 weeks to give me a heavy cycle since I was late 67 days by then. It gave me a 2 week cycle that was heavy, I had to do blood work on 3rd heavy day bleed. They don’t think I ovulate anymore. But to prevent any issues down there they want to put me on progesterone and give me a cycle if I don’t have one for 3 months. The thinning of the uterine lining can cause all kinds of issues he said. That or hormone replacement therapy. I went to them because I could not take the night sweat and hot flashes. Black cohosh 540mg from natures bounty fixed that. When they did the blood work they found elevated prolactin levels, ended up at the endocrinologist he waited 30 days from the prior blood work and it was normal. Was a fluke. And I was fine. Prolactin levels can mean pituitary gland tumors etc since it was not my normal….My cycles started acting up march 2020 when I had covid. All over the place. Super late or  early twice in one months etc. never went back to normal. Now I basically spot as a cycle like you. Menopause is 1 year without a cycle. My theory is I’m passing empty eggs I still “ovulate” when the app says I’m supposed to there is an increase in wetness down there. Or the lining isn’t shedding. Or something. I’m not stressing it. I’m not in pain. Not trying to get pregnant. Etc. if 3 months late comes and don’t have a cycle I will do the progesterone and give myself a cycle. I really don’t want to do hormone replacement therapy. Good luck.

It could. I am 46 and I have always been regular. I now get a slightly shorter cycle, hot night flashes and my PMS is now getting weird with pimples and articulations pain. The best way to know and make sure it is what it is, is seeing a doctor and having blood work done.
