Fertile after baby?

Is it true you’re more fertile after you have a baby? If so how much more fertile? I can’t find really anything online that gets into detail and my obgyn doesn’t really have an answer.

No. You’re not “more fertile”. I don’t know why people say that. You can return to fertility almost immediately. Since you ovulate before your period, it’s harder to track and predict. Once you get your cycle back and it’s regular, tracking is easier.

I don’t think you’re actually more fertile, your body doesn’t ovulate more frequently or release extra eggs. The concern is that you must ovulate before you get your first pp period so that’s difficult to know when or track. After that too, cycles may be irregular and again difficult to track.

I (think) why they say that is because kinda like when a woman has an HSG, pregnancy can kinda "clean" you out yknow get rid of polyps possibly, shed excess lining,  you have a long pp bleed that really sheds the lining which can help some women get pregnant. I dont think its a huge inscrease if anything but i think thats the idea around it. In reality its just because its really hard to track ovulation pp. Ovulation will happen before that first pp period so theres kind of always a risk if youre having unprotected sex before that. Even after because your pp periods can be sooooo wonky and hard to predict.

I have pcos and it took us18 months of activity trying for baby nr1, was one cycle from starting femara. Our second was a complete surprise, had sex once in like 3 months, didn'tknow i was pregnant before i was 11weeks along.
