Yup. When directly breastfeeding only, I would syringe it into their mouth timed near a feed. Once they took at least one bottle of breastmilk daily, it was easier to just drop it in their bottle. 
Don’t worry that you haven’t been able to start it yet. It takes a while for a deficiency to happen! It’s good that you’re starting now. 🙂
As another poster mentioned, you can take high dose vitamin D yourself instead of giving baby a supplement. However, you need a much higher dose to transfer enough vitamin D into the breastmilk to skip the supplement.

Yes, from around week 5. Here its no sunlight from November till late January so just being outdoors isnt nearly enough.

Yes, I mixed a little vitamin D with some expressed breastmilk and gave him a bottle once day. It was easier to mix it in that way.

Yes, from birth. She’s 2.5 now and we switched her to a multi vitamin that includes D. When we asked our pediatrician how long we should give it to her she said “until she leaves for college.” We also live far north. I take vitamin D as well.

No, where I live there is lots of sunlight year round, so we did lots of shade baths, daily walkabouts, playing in the yard, etc. if I lived elsewhere, I might have.

No. I live in an area that gets sufficient sunlight most months of the year, and I also took daily multivitamins that added vitamin D.
