Vacuum Assisted birth 38w 6d

Kyoko

The night of Thanksgiving my water broke in the shower (10pm). I wasn't 100 percent sure it broke so i put on a pad and waited to see if it was my waters. After an hour we drove the hour and a half to the birthing center and by then the fluid was continuously coming out and contractions were coming in waves! When we got there I was effaced but not dilated so the gave me a tiny pill to start an induction (2am) (It wasnt pitocin. Sorry I can't remember the name). 4 hours later i was at a 2.5 and 80% effaced, so i got an iv painkiller and another pill. 4 more hours and i am 4.5 with 90% effacement and baby girl is at 0. I got an epidural here. Over the next 5 hours we got to 7 then to 9.5 an hour later. It stalled here because her head was stuck on a little bit of cervix and once that was resolved we tried pushing for hours andbaby girl got a little distressed and i was getting exhausted. A vacuum pump was brought in and i managed to push and get her out without it popping off at all but she arrived shoulder breach with a bruise and laceration from the pumpon her head. I got second degree tearing. Labor took 26 hours total, but Iris Anne was born 11/25/2023 just after 1am and is healthy and already mostly healed up!
