No kiss on the first date. Is this normal?

I’m kinda new to the whole dating scene.

After I left my ex, I’ve gone on 3 dates with 3 different men. The first 2 guys I went out with both initiated a kiss. One led to sex. Both told me they weren’t looking for anything serious.

This third guy kinda left me confused. I thought a kiss was supposed to happen.

We had dinner, we had a good talk, then he walked me to my car. He did look nervous and he hugged me tight. I thanked him for the good time. I really enjoyed his company. I literally left thinking he didn’t like me bc I’ve been used to the guy kissing me. He didn’t though. But after I went in the car, I got a text 2 min later with a kiss emoji. He said I’m pretty and that he can’t wait to give me more hugs. I’m assuming he wants to see me again. But is there reasons why guys don’t kiss a women on the first date??
