Santa?! 🎅

Question

Does your family participate in telling the kids about Santa? I know a bunch of people who don’t and I am curious what everyone else does.

No. I disliked the idea of lying to our child about where his gifts came from. There isn’t a magical being keeping track of behavior. We did explain that some kids believe in Santa and to not tell them he isn’t real.

We don't do Santa. We both grew up with Santa and neither of us wanted it for our kids. It created a huge uproar in the family, but we stood firm in our boundry and here we are without anyone even bothering to test our boundries this year. Or kids love Christmas and it's still just as magical for them as it was for us.

We do Grampa-Claus. Grampa likes to go all out on his grandkids so we “leave” the big gift from him. Me and hubs get her stuff she needs/reads/wear. He has the want. My daughter is 2.5 her want is Mirabel doll. I don’t like the idea of Santa we don’t even buy wrapping paper with him on it. We watch Christmas movies like a Christmas carol/ home alone nothing with Santa in it but with the spirit of Christmas. 
If for some miracle she decides to believe. I’m not going to tell her no tell she’s old enough to understand. Santa will be giving her toys made in the North Pole.  Santa does not make Barbies he makes rag dolls/teddy bears . He brings toys made in a toy shop. No brand names and just one toy.

I’m personally not into Santa, tooth fairy,Easter bunny etc. We celebrate Christmas as a tradition based around family and spending time with your loved ones we do give a present each but the day is not about gifts or Santa Claus.

We plan to do more of the pagan style Yule, and a lot of the origins of Santa involve him actually being the viking god Odin. 
My son is only 2, he's too little to really understand the differences between all the traditions and belief systems. We are not going to do the Santa I was raised with. I'm not taking him to sit on Santa's lap or any of that nonsense. I want to teach him about the history of the traditions and how they changed with time and religious influence, and I want us to make our own family traditions out of the holiday season.
We do a tree, we decorate, we have presents, we eat yummy food, all that good stuff, but I'm not scaring my children with Elf on the Shelf or teaching them that Santa is watching them all the time to make sure they're "good".
