Just need to hear some hypertension experiences!
I’m 28+3 and had developed chronic hypertension only a few months before I found out I was pregnant. I’ve been on meds since to control it but even still, I’m considered high risk. I’m a FTM, relatively healthy and I trust my body. My BP readings are fine, I’ve tested negative for GD and PreE; baby is healthy and happy, growing well and at a good weight.
Even still, I’ve been told that the hospital will want to induce me at 39 weeks. I know why they want to, I know what worst case scenarios they want to prevent and I know that it’s recommended across all medical institutions. I also know the actual scientific accuracy of these worst case scenarios, the persistent narrative of the medical establishment and the incessant catastrophising of the pregnant body.
I’m not here asking for advice. I’ve read all I can find and so far, everyone who even attempts to question the just-in-case recommendation of their consultants is subjected to a barrage of holier-than-thou responses from people who clearly don’t understand the ways in which hospitals see us as cattle. So, kindly, please keep those replies to yourself.
I just want to hear from people who had hypertension (ideally chronic, not gestational) that was under control and with no other complications (GD, PreE etc) - who didn’t go through with early induction. I want to hear from people who experienced spontaneous labour and how it went.
P.S. There needs to be more support for the pregnant people who ask questions - less condemnation and scorn. Thank you!
