Negative test, period in 5 days

I am 9dpo and predicted to start my period on Jan 3rd. I woke up this morning and had cramps (have had cramps for the last 3ish days off and on), my boobs are sore and sensitive, when I wiped this morning there was a twinge of brown spotting that happened 3 times when I used the restroom, the 3rd time it was a suuuuper light pink. I haven’t had any spotting since. Is 9dpo too late for implantation? I took a test tonight for the heck of it and it is very clearly negative.
