Ovulation test help!

So this is the first time taking an ovulation test and I’m just not sure how it works. I’m on the last day of my period but I’ve been ttc for four months now with no luck so i decided to test today. Could this mean I ovulate early? I know it’s most likely a negative test but it seems like it’s pretty dark for the last day of period. Please someone help me.
