What to wear

What do you wear to a beauty pageant ? Regular clothes or dress up??
I’m going to one that my friend is in to support her, but I’ve never been to one. 
I was thinking about wearing a dress but it’s winter, so idk what to wear. 
Any suggestions. Thank you

I’d dress up. I’ve gone to watch the Miss America pageant and everyone was dressed really nice.

Probably look nice. I’m sure a lot of pictures, you included, whether she wins or not. Maybe a banquet or something usually happens too. Are you gonna feel comfortable in pictures next to her in ripped up jeans while she’s in an evening dress? Probably not. Maybe throw on some leggings underneath the dress. I would look good.
