How to correct rude behavior in a 4yr old
My recently turned 4 year old has always been incredibly shy, sensitive and insanely stubborn and high maintenance. In public I've never pushed her to say hello or goodbye or thank you. At home I do insist and she is generally very well mannered at home. But in public she refuses to be kind or polite to others in any way and as she gets older I'm starting to get frustrated. On her birthday she refused to say thank you to anyone who gave her gifts.. and she never tries to make amends with other children if there are disputes. I role model constantly and do role playing but I feel like that's just not cutting it. What am I doing wrong!? Is this normal? I don't see any other 4 year olds like this. Should I get angry and force her to say thank you, goodbye.. hellos?!? I try peaceful parenting as much as possible but I feel like nothing is helping at this point so any advice would be appreciated.
