D&C question

We unfortunately lost our third pregnancy just shy of 11 weeks , I had to have a d&c Monday last week , the procedure went well and I spotted lightly mon-Thursday and by Friday my spotting had stopped . I started to bleed again on Tuesday this week deep dark red and some dark brown , that’s gotten heavier since then, more like a period bleed but very dark in color. I’m not having pain or cramping badly but have passed a few small pieces of tissue /clots . Is it normal for things to stop and then to have a heavy bleed days after a d&c? Is this my body finally recognizing I’m not pregnant anymore and cleaning out the left overs?
